Palworld offers a unique feature where you will encounter various versions of the same Pal, each with distinct characteristics based on the situation. A prime example of this is the Pal Gumoss, which can be found in multiple variations depending on the circumstances.
You will come across the regular version of Gumoss in ordinary encounters. However, in specific instances such as Dungeon Boss encounters or as an Alpha Boss, Gumoss will have different attributes and poses a greater challenge.
This dynamic system adds depth and excitement to Palworld, allowing you to experience different variations of Pals and engage in diverse encounters as you progress through the game. Be prepared to face off against these different versions of Pals and adapt your strategies accordingly for a truly immersive and thrilling gameplay experience.
Regular versions of Gumoss can be found in many places, while the Alpha Boss Gumoss is more difficult to come across. It can only be found in a single location. The Gumoss Boss is one of the early-to-mid-level bosses that you can encounter on your journey and is one of the first bosses that you can recruit as a partner Pal.
To locate Gumoss, head to the island directly to the left of the spawn island. It is positioned to the North of the Seabreeze Archipelago Castaway Beach teleport statue, at the coordinates -112, -628. Follow the shoreline of the island in a northern direction from the teleportation point. You will eventually come across a sloping hill that leads to the inner region of the island, where you can find Gumoss.
Gumoss is a Grass/Ground Element Pal, making it vulnerable to Fire Element and Grass Element attacks. On the other hand, it has the advantage against Electric and Ground Element Pals. For a more detailed understanding of Elemental advantages, refer to this resource.
As Gumoss is a level 11 boss, you should be able to defeat it easily, even in the early stages of your adventure. It is recommended to bring Pals that are either higher in level than Gumoss or have Fire and Grass Element attacks.
When you defeat or capture any type of Gumoss, they will drop Berry Seeds and Gumoss Leaves. To identify the captured boss Gumoss, look for a red, horned face symbol next to its name. Defeating the boss version of Gumoss will also provide additional rewards, including 1 Ancient Civilization Part, 1 Berry Seed, and 2 precious entrails.
Captured boss versions of Pals, including Gumoss, tend to be slightly more powerful than their regular counterparts but retain the same abilities. Gumoss's Partner Skill is Logging Assistance, which enhances the efficiency of tree-cutting tasks when summoned.
Active skills can be adjusted, learned, or replaced as you progress in your adventure. However, Gumoss typically spawns with the Wind Cutter and Sand Blast Active Skills. Passive Skills, on the other hand, vary between Pals and are randomly generated when the Pal appears in the game.
In terms of work suitability, Gumoss has limited options, as it is only suitable for one type of work: Planting. This means that Gumoss can only be assigned to oversee the planting of crops in seed plots. It cannot perform tasks such as harvesting, watering, or transporting crops.
To effectively battle Gumoss, it is recommended to team up with Pals that possess Active Skills advantageous against it. Pals such as Arsox and Foxparks are excellent choices. Due to Gumoss's slower movement, it becomes easier to land hits with Fire arrows, which are the most efficient projectiles to utilize against Gumoss, given its vulnerability to Fire Element attacks.
To prevent conflicts and ensure efficient task management, it is advisable to avoid assigning other Pals who can also plant seeds on your base when Gumoss is already responsible for that task. A practical approach is to assign one Pal with Transportation duty and another Pal with Watering duty, allowing each Pal to focus on their respective responsibilities.
To facilitate task allocation, you can utilize the Monitoring Stand to assign Pals to specific tasks. Alternatively, you have the option to physically pick up your Pal and throw them towards the task you want them to immediately prioritize and complete.
