There are multiple transportation options available in Palworld, with Pals playing a significant role. You can ride Pals to travel across various terrains, including land, water, and even the skies. Additionally, you have the ability to construct gliders, enabling you to gracefully descend to the ground after leaping off your flying companions.
You have the option to forgo building a glider altogether in Palworld, as there are specific Pals that can fulfill that role for you. By including these Pals in your team, they will serve as a substitute for a glider while providing additional benefits that surpass what any item can offer.
1. Celaray
The first Pal you capture with gliding abilities, Celaray, may not provide a significant improvement compared to other Pals or later gliders in Palworld. While it does offer more stamina and air time than the basic glider, it may not be as advantageous in later stages of the game. However, if you use your glider strategically, you can conserve stamina. For example, when descending from great heights, it's advisable to open and close the glider as needed or only open it when you are near the ground. This way, you can effectively manage your Pal's stamina and maximize its usage while gliding.
2. Killamari
Killamari is not significantly rarer than Celaray, with the main difference being that it only spawns at night. If you are looking for a Pal that can function as an average glider, Killamari is a superior choice to Celaray as it outperforms Celaray in every aspect. The Paldeck descriptions may not reflect this, as they make both Pals seem similar, with Celaray being portrayed as faster. However, internal testing has revealed the opposite to be true, with Killamari gliding further and faster. While there may be a slight stamina advantage with Celaray, it is hardly noticeable.
Considering how easy they are to capture, Killamari should be your preferred glider for the majority of the early game, especially when you are without a flying mount. In higher levels, it may be challenging to dedicate a party slot solely for the glider role, and while Killamari may not meet the requirements, the subsequent entries will certainly fulfill this role.
3. Hangyu
Hangyu stands out from other glider options due to its unique functionality. It initially propels you upwards before gliding down, which may seem like a small detail and counterproductive to descending. However, this feature actually offers significant advantages in terms of traversal, surpassing the capabilities of climbing or grappling hooks.
The upward boost provided by Hangyu allows you to ascend approximately two floors in altitude, granting access to otherwise unreachable areas. It also simplifies circumnavigation around your base, making movement more efficient. In scenarios where you are aiming to reach the peak of a mountain but your flying mount is low on stamina, you can dismount and utilize Hangyu to cover the final stretch.
The inclusion of Hangyu in your transportation arsenal greatly expands your options for exploration and provides convenient alternatives when dealing with challenging terrain.
4. Galeclaw
In the endgame of Palworld, it is crucial to include Galeclaw in your party, even if you never take it out of the Sphere. Galeclaw possesses two unique abilities as a glider that significantly enhance your character, despite its limitations in terms of range and altitude compared to other gliders.
When you open your glider while having Galeclaw summoned, it will be recalled into the Sphere, allowing you to open the glider as usual. If you wish to continue battling with Galeclaw, you will need to summon it again. One of its abilities is its exceptional speed, enabling you to travel faster than regular running by spamming the glider while on the ground. This speed not only aids in efficient movement but also facilitates swift evasion from enemy grenades or wild Pal abilities.
The most distinctive feature of Galeclaw is its capability to let you use guns or crossbows while gliding, as your character has a free hand while gliding with Galeclaw. This empowers you to maintain offensive pressure while swiftly repositioning yourself, injecting dynamic movement into the otherwise static combat system.
Regardless of the opponent you are facing, including Galeclaw in your team will always be an improvement since no other glider grants you this level of speed and the ability to attack while airborne. It is important to note that although other Pals may share Galeclaw's model, they are categorized as flying mounts and do not function as gliders.
